In your organization, certain individuals may be required to build report definitions and other building-blocks for reports and input screens in Prospero, but these users may not need full administrator capabilities as well. In this instance, a Designer User license is used when users do not require Administrative-level permissions but do require more permissions than is granted by a Limited User or Standard User license.
The Designer User License is required as the minimum license for maintaining or creating Report definitions, Input Definitions, and other building blocks within Prospero.
A Designer User license is required for user accounts associated to the default Designer Role and is required for one, or all, of the following permissions:
Setup Roles
• Maintain Report – This permission allows the creation, modification, and deletion of Report Definitions that the user has created or to which the user has been granted rights via the Visibility option.
• Maintain Building Blocks – This permission allows the creation, modification and deletion of Column and Line Definitions.
• Maintain Trees – This permission allows the creation, modification, and deletion of Tree Definitions.
• Maintain Input Definitions – This permission allows the creation, modification, and deletion of Input Definitions for budget planning. The user must have created the Input Definition or have been granted rights via the Visibility option.
• Maintain Report Collections – This permission allows the creation, modification, and deletion of Report Collections.
Note: Manage Input Definitions permissions apply only when Prospero budgeting is licensed. For more information refer to the section on Prospero Licensing
The Designer User License also allows you to grant any permission associated to the Standard User or Limited User licenses. See the sections for those types of licenses for more information.
Note: While a Designer User license can be associated to any Role which has fewer permissions, a Designer User cannot be associated to a Role which requires greater permissions. In short, associating a Designer User license to an individual that requires more-limited Prospero functionality – and thereby permissions - is not necessarily the best utilization of that license.
